Farming Education in Orange County

Gospel Swamp Farm is the latest educational endeavor currently being developed at Heritage Museum of Orange County. The Museum is planning to provide extensive agriculture education opportunities, serving students from Kindergarten through College in “Hands-on, Minds-on” programs such as:

  • Ecology and Natural History
  • Research
  • Recreational Experiences
  • Habitat Restoration
  • Biological Sciences
  • Sustainable Agriculture

Student volunteers are already learning organic farming methods in the almost 1 acre plot by sowing more than 40 vegetables, fruits, and herbs as well as marketing and selling the produce they grow. The farm will support the growing local-foods movement as well as educate youth in economics and agricultural science. Currently, the farm is being cultivated by students from local high schools and Santa Ana College and is being sponsored in part by Kellogg Garden Products.
