As she cooks\, young readers are introduced to numbers one through ten\, vibrant vegetables\, rich colors\, and cultural foods found in the mercado and at family gatherings. Through rhythmic\, repetitive text in English and Spanish\, the story celebrates language\, family traditions\, and the joy of cooking together. It invites children to count\, learn new vocabulary\, and connect with their heritage while honoring the warmth and love of an abuelita’s kitchen. \nBiography: Dr. Griselda Maldonado grew up in Santa Ana\, where her love for community\, culture\, and diversity was deeply rooted. She earned her Bachelor’s\, two Master’s degrees\, and Doctorate in Educational Leadership from California State University\, Fullerton. Dr. Maldonado has served as an elementary dual immersion teacher and school administrator\, driven by a commitment to culturally affirming education. She is passionate about ensuring children see their heritage reflected in literature and preserving the Spanish language through bilingual books. \nProud of her Mexican heritage\, Dr. Maldonado values family above all. Inspired by her parents’ immigration journey in 1973\, she lives by the principles of perseverance\, hard work\, and humility while cherishing time with her husband and four children.

SUMMARY:HMOC Kellogg House Public Paranormal Investigation!
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a night of spooky exploration of our Victorian Kellogg House! \nThe Kellogg House was built in 1898 as a wedding present from Hiram Clay Kellogg to his second wife Helen\, who was said to be rather possessive of her home\, refusing to leave right up until she died in the downstairs office…and perhaps even staying afterwards. \nWhile it has been decades since any humans have lived in “Helen’s house\,” numerous spirits including Helen herself seem to have taken up permanent residence in the rooms\, frequently making themselves known to those willing to listen and search with an open mind; whether you’re a true believer\, or a skeptic seeking proof. \nSaturday\, August 22nd join us for a nighttime guided paranormal investigation\, suitable for both the experienced and the novice ghost explorer with time allotted for both group discussion and private exploration. \nA VERY special VIP tier add-on is available for this night’s event with early entry for a private Q&A with Darcy from 6pm-6:45pm\, an additional hour of investigation time afterwards from 11pm-12am\, and a special VIP gift! \nEach ticket will include a flashlight to be used during the investigation and then taken home as a souvenir! \nTickets booking NOW! https://givebutter.com/HMOCpara826 \nPlease feel free to bring your own investigation equipment\, but no long form filming or open flames will be permitted. \nDue to the nature of the night’s program and the graphic historical stories of the Kellogg house and family\, small children are not permitted for this investigation\, but may tour the home during one of our daytime Open Houses. \n\nOur Paranormal Coordinator: \nDarcy Staniforth is an academic\, writer\, performer\, and paranormal investigator. She has been interested in the paranormal since she was very young and that interest has carried into both her personal and professional life. Darcy holds a B.A. M.A. in American Studies and in addition to the paranormal\, her research areas include race and ethnicity\, gender and sexuality\, ideals and institutions\, and death\, dying\, and grief in American culture. As an artist and performer\, Darcy is a podcaster\, comedian\, writer\, and amateur magician. She currently resides in a haunted house in Southern CA.

The first UC Master Preserver Program started in 1982. In return\, each MFP commits to a working predefined number of volunteer hours and continuing education hours each year. \n2014 – Officially recognized as a statewide program under UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources. More than 330 active UC Master Food Preserver volunteers across 16 counties donated more than 20\,505 outreach hours. \nWebsite:  https://ucanr.edu/site/uc-master-food-preserver-program-orange-county \n
